Real-time observation of the formation of a Bose condensate. This sequence of images displays the real-time formation of a Bose-Einstein condensate. All of the images were taken of a single cloud of atoms as it was forced to evaporate to colder temperatures. About mid-way through the pictures, you can see a dense lump of atoms forming in the center. This lump of atoms is a Bose-Einstein condensate.
