CUA Seminar: Xing Fan – Trapped Single Electrons and Quantum Information Science
Location:MIT 4-270
Xing Fan, Harvard
Trapped electrons in a Penning trap have enabled the most precise measurement of the electron’s g-factor. However, their connection to quantum information science (QIS) has sometimes been overlooked.
In this talk, I will introduce the physics of trapped single electrons and highlight their relevance to QIS, with a particular focus on how quantum techniques can be used to enhance measurement precision. Particularly, I will discuss the possibility of quantum logic spectroscopy with electrons and outline our ongoing efforts toward realizing this approach.
