									Frequency-stabilized lasers are critical tools for precision measurement and quantum information science. Achieving performance at the highest level requires detailed characterization and understanding of the phase noise power spectral density over a wide range of Fourier frequency. I will present some recently developed techniques, including the construction of a synthetic laser, to achieve record long optical atomic coherence and high fidelity single optical qubit gate.
