Outreach to the Scientific Community 2021-2022

Between 2020 and 2021 a student-led CUA community service steering committee, Engage CUA, was formed. It was born out of efforts related to and following ShutdownSTEM, beginning as a regular meeting to discuss research on important topics around increasing diversity.  The primary goal is to organize and track outreach efforts. In the past year, CUA members have logged 1,054 recorded hours of outreach activities. Below is a sampling of the types of K-12 service people have logged June 2021-June 2022 (mostly virtual).

PhysGAAP mentoring (to reduce the barriers for application to the MIT Physics PhD program and also address the underrepresentation of students from historically excluded communities)
