The Women+ of Color Project
Araiza Rodrigo (Yelin Group) and Emma Rosenfeld (Lukin Group) organized a three day conference targeting women+ of color interested in applying to graduate programs in STEM. The conference gave 50 students full access to workshops about graduate application materials, speakers, and one-on-one mentoring. They participated in content creation, volunteer solicitation, applications management, and technical support. Emma also connected with three prospective graduate students and helped them with their application essays.
These efforts were funded by the Harvard Culture and Innovation Fund and Elsevier’s agents of change, and were recently featured on the Crimson and NPR.
Susanne Yelin was involved in this conference in 2019, acting as a judge and “senior-level” scientist in networking events.
