Silvia Arroyo Camejo

Visiting Student

Silvia discovered her strong interest in the nature of quantum physics at the age of 15. During her last two years at high school she wrote a book on the principles of quantum theory at the boundary between popular science books and textbooks, which in 2006 was published by the German academic publisher Springer-Verlag and was translated into four languages.

In 2009 she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in physics at Humboldt University Berlin, Germany.

At the CUA she is working as a visiting student on a joint experiment of Prof. V. Vuletic and Prof. M. Lukin groups which aims at investigating into few to sinlge laser-cooled atoms inside a hollow core photonic crystal fiber for studies of their nonlinear behavior towards an all-optical switch based on an advanced EIT scheme.

During her spare time she enjoys extended hiking tours besides a passion for reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Furthermore, animal protection and sensitizing the society towards environmental consciousness lie at the heart of her social interests.
