David Leibrandt has a B.S.E. in Engineering Physics from the University of Michigan, and he is currently working on a Ph.D. in Physics in the research group of Isaac Chuang at MIT. His research interests are centered around applied atomic physics. At MIT he has been involved in the development of scalable, multiplexed ion trap chips for trapped ion quantum information processing, and he is currently working on an experiment in cavity QED. His latest results are a demonstration of cavity sideband cooling of a single trapped ion.
